Originally formed in 1962 in Alabama, a three vocalist line up (Ernestine Pearce, Shirley Pearce, Vie Billups) of R&B group The Flirtations relocated to the UK in 1968 where they picked up with producer Wayne Bickerton and writer Tony Waddington, and a deal with Decca. They recorded one LP (Sounds Like...) in 1969 plus six singles released through the Deram imprint (1968-1971).
All are included here, plus input from Vie Billups aka Pearly Gates who has latterly reformed the troupe for live shows. Pearly will be helping to promote the release with on going radio interviews and appearances.
Contains the original source for a recent KFC ad, namely their signature tune Nothing But A Heartache, a massive Northern Soul track: described as a dense, dynamic, earthshattering melodrama. The other singles and tracks are no less in their impassioned soulful delivery, with Someone Out There continuing to get exposure on Euro radio and TV.
This is the first time the LP has been reissued, and legitimately released on CD.
