Legendary Detroit musician Dennis Coffey was the featured guitarist on literally hundreds of hit records. As a session guitarist at Motown and Invictus, and a deft hand with the wah wah pedal, you can hear him behind the Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Chairmen Of The Board and countless others. With Mike Theodore he produced scores of classic Detroit soul records and his own solo records for Sussex produced disco hits. Those records also produced in 'Scorpio' one of the foundation records of disco culture.
Our compilation ranges from the classic breakbeat funk of 'Wild Child', 'Some Like It Hot' and 'Live Wire' to the disco grooves of 'Leaving Planet Earth' and 'Give Me That Love' on to the sublime soul of 'Sweet Taste Of Sin' and 'Someone Special'. A particular treat is the delicate playing that Dennis reveals on the down-tempo 'High On Love' and 'Our Love Goes On Forever'.
