｢男性ジャズ･ボーカルの最高峰｣といわれたメル･トーメが、1954年と1957年、ハリウッドにあったジャズ･クラブ｢クレッセンド｣で行ったライブ名盤をカップリングした2枚組です。CD1は1954年の｢Gene Norman Presents Mel Torme 'Live' At The Crescendo｣(Coral CRL-57012)に、LP未収録の音源を追加した全21曲。曲によってコンガやクラリネットが加わります。トーメの代表曲｢クリスマス･ソング｣も歌っています。CD2は1957年、マーティ･ペイチのコンボをバックに録音した人気盤｢Mel Torme At The Crescendo｣(Bethlehem BCP6020)に、同時期の収録で別アルバム｢Songs For Any Taste｣(Bethlehem BCP6031)で日の目をみた音源を追加。こちらもメル･ルイスやラリー･バンカーなどがフィーチャーされ、最高のエンターテイナーぶりを発揮したステージです。どちらも若きトーメの名演。全41曲、約120分収録。
