This rare collection, lovingly curated by Italy’s king of swing Nicola Conte, is introduced by the deep, oscillating organ of Brasil 40 Graus’ ‘Copa 70’, just a matter of moments before breaking into the compilation’s fundamental groove.  Dalmo Castello’s ‘Fora de Hora’ with Edu Lobo’s inspired strings and broken samba rhythm, sheds light on the political history of the era through its socially conscious lyrics, while the gloriously mystical harmonies of O Triangulo’s ‘Vocé Que Nao Vem’ highlight the fantastically beautiful vocal performances on the compilation. Darker Afro rhythms and mesmeric atmospheres on tracks like Carlos Sodré’s ‘Samba De Negro’ and Luis Carlos Sá’s ‘Canto Do Quilombo’ are interwoven with jazz melodies to create a  nostalgia laden tour de force and journey deep into the lost sonics of Brazil’s musical history and jazz identity.
