英国の香りと伝統を内包した職人気質な名バンド、英Chrysalisよりリリースされた'79年作がリリース40周年記念エディションとして4CD+2DVD(計6枚組)デジブック仕様限定拡大盤で登場!
CD1に新規ステレオ・リミックス音源のアルバム本編、CD2に本編録音と同時期に録音された別テイク/別楽曲/Liveのステレオ・ミックス音源、CD3,4には'80年3月にオランダ,ハーグにて行われたライヴのフル音源を収録。DVD1には5.1 DTS/AC3 Dolby Digitalとoriginal mixの96/24LPCM stereoによるアルバム本編音源を収録、DVD2にはCD2収録楽曲のうち13曲の5.1 DTS and AC3 Dolby Digital音源、15曲の96/24 LPCM stereo音源、5曲のoriginal mixによる96/24 LPCM stereo音源を収録。

フォーク・ロック三部作とも言える'70年代後期作品群の締めとなるアルバム。本作リリース数か月後、本作をメインにしたツアー中にJohn Glascock(ba)が逝去、そしてツアー終了後にBarriemore Barlow(dr), John Evan(p,organ), Dee Palmer(synthe)が脱退し、次作からは主軸の2人以外総入れ替えとなる節目のアルバム。‘77年作『SONGS FROM THE WOOD』から続くFolk志向の音楽性に磨きをかけつつ、’80年代に突入する目前という時代性を踏まえた前に出る音作りと分かりやすいメロディとを引用し、Andersonの気迫に満ちたJETHRO TULL節を奏で切る作品です。

ブックレットにはアルバム制作/発表時期のバンドの動向に関する記述とIan Anderson, Dee Palmerによる楽曲解説を掲載。収録のstereo/5.1chミックスはSteven Wilsonによるミックス音源を使用。
今回公式初出の未発表音源として、CD2収録'Dark Ages (early version)' 'A Single Man (Instrumental)' 'Orion (full Length Version)' 'Urban Apocalypse' 'Man Of God' 'Rock Instrumental (unfinished master)'、CD3,4全音源を収録。
