映画『グリーンブック』に描かれた忘れられた才能、ドン・シャーリーのピアノ作品集。

ドン・シャーリー(別名「ドクター・シャーリー」)は、幼少よりクラシック・ピアノの才能を認められながら注目されず、後に様々な時代の音楽を混ぜ合わせることで成功を手にしました。
前半(#1-12)はAudio Fidelityで、後半(#13-21)はCadenceで制作された2枚のアルバムのカップリングとなっています。2枚ともピアノ・デュオやピアノ・トリオ(といってもp,b,celoという構成)を中心した小編成で、スタンダード曲を中心に演奏しているので、ピアニストとしてのシャーリーを知るのに最適の一枚になっています。
シャーリーが、ニューヨークのナイトクラブで用心棒をしていたイタリア系のトニー・"リップ"・ヴァレロンガを雇ってツアーに随行させた旅路をドラマ化した映画『グリーンブック』をご覧になった方にも、お勧め致します。
