2022年に3rdアルバム『Xìn』をリリースした古川麦、今回はシンガーソングライターとしてではなくコンポーザーとして、ここ数年のうちに書きためた歌詞のない静かなインストルメンタル曲を集めたアルバムを制作した。演奏はピアノデュオユニット「aqubi」のピアノ杉本亮とコーラスyuukitakamiを中心にエレキギターMasatomo Yoshizawa(YOUR SONG IS GOOD)、パーカッション高良真剣、トロンボーン青木タイセイ、クラリネットPablo Amilcar Alvarez。マスタリングは原真人、古川自身がミックスを手掛ける。
古川が影響を受けたブラジルやアルゼンチンなど南米音楽のエッセンスを土台に、ヒメネス「プラテーロとわたし」フィッツジェラルド「華麗なるギャツビー」など古川が日頃親しむ文学作品などの影響から作られた楽曲を収録している。タイトル「Miscellany」は「寄せ集め、雑録」の意味で小泉八雲「日本雑録」(原題「A Japanese Miscellany」)から取られている。
日常の中に溶け込むような、ふとした瞬間に耳に入ってくるような静けさと優しさに溢れたアルバム。

19世紀の女性植物学者アンナ・アトキンスのサイアノタイプを配置した7インチサイズのジャケットに入っています。
デザインは川村格夫、写真は鈴木竜一朗。

All Music by Baku Furukawa

Baku Furukawa, who released his third album "Xìn" last year, has produced an album of quiet instrumental songs without lyrics that he has written over the past few years, not as a singer-songwriter but as a composer. The band consists of Ryo Sugimoto on piano and yuukitakami in the chorus from the piano duo unit "aqubi," Masatomo Yoshizawa (YOUR SONG IS GOOD) on electric guitar, Mahaya Takara on percussion, Taisei Aoki on trombone, Pablo Amilcar Alvarez on clarinet, Mastered by Masato Hara and mixed by Baku Furukawa himself.
The album is based on the essence of Brazilian, Argentinian, and other South American music that Baku Furukawa has been influenced by, and also includes songs inspired by literary works that he is familiar with, such as Jimenez's "Platero and I" and Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby". The title "Miscellany" is taken from "A Japanese Miscellany" by Hearn Koizumi Yakumo.
The album is full of serenity and tenderness, as if it blends into everyday life.
