後のパンク/ハードコア/オルタナといったアンダーグラウンドシーンに多大なる影響を与えたUS/ミネアポリス産の3人組"HUSKER DU"。結成された1979年から「Metal Circus」の録音に向かう1982年の間に録音された膨大なデモ音源/リハーサルテイク/ライブ音源などを集約した3CDボックスが国内盤仕様として登場。ライナーノーツは、名古屋が世界に誇るパンクバンド"the原爆オナニーズ"のTAYLOW氏!
69曲中47曲が未発表音源、100ページを超えるハードカバーブックレット付、そしてオリジナルアナログテープのリマスタリング仕様というファン垂涎のアイテムがこの「SAVAGE YOUNG DU」。ドラマー兼シンガーのグラント・ハートが2017年9月13日に癌で息を引き取ったため、再結成する可能性が完全に消えてしまったのは惜しまれるが、今作は彼らの魅力であるサウンドの変遷とバンドの歴史を時系列で楽しむことができる唯一の音源集だ。全パンクファン/オルタナティブロックファン必携の作品がここに完成。
