アメリカ東部とカナダの小さな会場を中心に、ライヴ告知を殆どせずに回った伝説の公演の数々。75年秋から76年にかけて行われたROLLING THUNDER REVUEツアーの第一期、75年の5公演を記録した14CD限定ボックス・セットが登場です。巨匠マーティン・スコセッシ監督による新たなコンサート・ドキュメンタリー「ROLLING THUNDER REVUE: A BOB DYLAN STORY BY MARTIN SCORSESE」に併せてリリースされます。
1976年のアメリカ建国200年へ向け国内に祝賀ムードが漂う中、アメリカの再発見と巨大化するロック・ビジネスの軌道修正を目指しスタートしたツアー。30代半ばを迎えていたDYLANは、75年1月の『BLOOD ON THE TRACKS』やのち76年1月に控えた『DESIRE』等の傑作をモノにし、制作におけるピークを極めていた時期で、自由、即興性、創造性、自信に溢れたパフォーマンスがここに記録されています。この伝説的なミュージカル・バラエティー・ショウに参加したのは、JOAN BAEZ、RAMBLIN' JACK ELLIOTT、ROGER MCGUINN、ALLEN GINSBERG、MICK RONSONらで、旅回りの一座的なツアーは撮影も同時に行われ、78年に映画「RENALDO & CLARA」として公開もされました。
