Bobbito first came to prominence hosting the “Stretch & Bobbito” Breakfast Show in 1990,(voted the ‘best hip-hop show ever’ in The Source magazine). He has since been building his reputation as a DJ, (weekly night at APT new York), Journalist, (monthly feature in Vibe Magazine) and cultural historian- his book on the history of sneaker culture “Where'd You Get Those? New York City's Sneaker Culture 1960-1987” is out in September ’03 on Testify Books. His label Fruitmeat has released music from the Grammy award nominated band“Spanish Harlem Orchestra” and hip-hop diva Vinia Mojica among others and he co-hosts the annual Stevie Wonder tribute “Wonder-Full” with DJ Spinna. Bobbito’s musical knowledge extends far beyond hip-hop to Latin, funk, soul and house, and Earthtones will reflect this variety as he handpicks gems from across the soulful musical spectrum. From funk to hip-hop to house- all touched with the Latin flavour of New York.
