ギタリスト/ソングライターのスチュアート・モックスハム、兄弟でベーシストのフィリップ・モックスハム、シンガーのアリソン・スタットンという3人からなるヤング・マーブル・ジャイアンツ。
彼らが1980年に残した唯一のアルバムにしてミニマルポップの金字塔として今尚多くの音楽ファンから愛聴される、『Colossal Youth』がリリース40周年を記念し、DVDが付属した『Colossal Youth 40th Anniversary Edition』として〈Domino〉より再発!

本作には、アルバム『Colossal Youth』の他に、『Salad Days』、『Is The War Over』、『Final Day』、『Testcard EP』といった貴重なEPやコンピレーションの楽曲も収録。
さらに1980年にニューヨークで行われた貴重なアメリカ公演のライヴDVDが付属している。たった5日間でレコーディングされたという『Colossal Youth』はイギリスのシェフィールドからアメリカのシアトルに至るシーンに影響を与え、カート・コバーン、コートニー・ラヴ、ベル&セバスチャン、デヴィッド・バーン、ソニック・ユース、マグネティック・フィールズといった音楽史における重要なアーティストやバンドが彼らのファンを公言している。

唯一無二の歌声、ギター、ベース、リズムボックス によって奏でられるミニマルなサウンドで構成された本作はヤング・マーブル・ジャイアンツにしか作り出せないサウンドであり、ポスト・パンク中でも最も重要なレコードの一つとして挙げられている。

今回、国内流通仕様盤には解説が封入され、限定輸入盤LPはクリア・ヴァイナル仕様でリリースされる。
