テキサスを代表するSSW、ガイ・クラークが1978年にワーナーからリリースした作品。通算3作目となり、前作「TEXAS COOKIN'」や前々作「OLD NO.1」に比べると知名度は若干落ちますが、非常に良い内容です。
Guy Clark’s 1978 debut forWarner Bros. marked a career turning-point for the songwriter who’s been touted and/or covered by everybody from Bob Dylan to Johnny Cash to George Strait to David Allan Coe. Here, Clark left behind the folk flavors of his earlier work for RCA in favor of a more country-fied.and, in some cases, boldly experimental.sound, with an amazing supporting cast made up of Albert Lee, Buddy Emmons, Rodney Crowell, Don Everly, K.T. Oslin and David Briggs among others. The result: one of his most critically-acclaimed records, and a real step forward with respect both to his songwriting and his singing. Includes Fool on the Roof; Fools for Each Other; Shade of All Greens; Voila, an American Dream; One Paper Kid; In the Jailhouse Now; Comfort and Crazy; Don’t You Take It Too Bad; Houston Kid, and Fool on the Roof Blues. A Collectors’ Choice Music exclusive, with notes by Gene Sculatti.
