24 tracks . a totally comprehensive cross-section of Norman Greenbaum’s hits and essential recordings.
・ Booklet with authoritative and detailed liner notes by respected author and archivist John Tracy.
・ Expertly remastered . superb sound. The classic ‘Spirit In The Sky’ has never sounded better!
Norman Greenbaum’s best-known international hit song ‘Spirit In The Sky’ has been Number One three times for three different artists. However, it was the talented Mr. Greenbaum who first topped the charts with the song in 1970. The atmospheric production focussed attention on an American singer, who was also a prolific writer, as this fascinating collection reveals. Pride of place here goes to ‘Spirit In The Sky’, which sold millions around the world and includes the immortal line: ‘When I die and they lay me to rest, gonna go to the place that’s the best...goin’ up to the Spirit in the sky.’
Tracklisting:
SPIRIT IN THE SKY / CALIFORNIA EARTHQUAKE / LUCILLE GOT STEALED / CANNED HAM / TARS OF INDIA / MARCY / HOOK AND LADDER / RHODE ISLAND RED / JUNIOR CADILLAC / SKYLINE / JUBILEE / MILK COW / BACK HOME AGAIN / TITFIELD THUNDER / DAMPER / I.J. FOXX / PETALUMA / COUNTRY LAD / THE DAY THE WELL WENT DRY / JIGSAW / WEIRD / DADDY I KNOW / GONDOLIERS, SHAKESPEARES, OVERSEERS, PLAYBOYS & / THE DAY THEY SOLD BEER IN CHURCH
