Loga Ramin Torkian-Mehraab Mehraab is the first solo album release by contemporary Iranian composer and multi-instrumentalist Loga Ramin Torkian. Best known as a founding member of the international world music ensemble Niyaz as well as his earlier brainchild Axiom of Choice, which earned him legions of fans in his home country, Torkian is considered to be a trailblazer in the movement of pushing the boundaries of Iranian music. For more than a decade now, Torkian has been on the forefront of creating progressive and cutting- edge music based on the classical Persian repertoire. His knowledge and vocabulary of this ancient repertoire are most evident on this, his most personal recording.

Here, Torkian creates a palette of colors through the processing of natural melodic instruments, all of which were played by him, and weaves together a sonic spectrum not commonly heard in traditional Iranian music. This desire to once again challenge the boundaries could not have been realized without the extraordinary voice of Khosro Ansari, whose soulful expression is only heightened by his tremendous technical ability and command of the repertoire. Mehraab is the coming together of one of today s most relevant Iranian composers and the modern voice of Iranian traditional music.
