Digitally re-mastered and expanded edition of this 1959 album. Esquerita's flamboyant stage personality, wild piano style and stratospheric pompadour made a deep impression on Little Richard during his formative years. There's an infectious raw Rhythm & Blues energy in Esquerita's playing and pleasing vitality in his gruffer, more soulful vocals that sounds much less time-warped than a lot of other early Rock 'n' Roll. These terrific recordings have been packaged together in this very special collector's edition and feature a virtual who's who of great sidemen, including Vincent Mosley, Tony White, Marvin Hughes and Elvis Presley's primary male back-up vocal group the Jordanaires, among others. Hoo Doo Records. 2010.
