The Tamba Trio was a musical group formed in Rio de Janeiro in the 1960s . Originally composed by Luiz Eça ( piano , vocals and arrangements ), Bebeto Castilho ( double bass , flute , sax and vocals ) and Hélcio Milito ( drums , percussion and vocals ),
Tamba Trio began to take shape still following the singer Maysa and later the singer Leny Andradein a season at the Manhattan nightclub, performing alongside Luiz Carlos Vinhas ( piano )and Roberto Menescal ( guitar ). From 1967 , with the entry of bassist Dório Ferreira, Bebeto would only act as a piper, thus transforming the trio into the Tamba 4 quartet. Two years later, with the departure of Luiz Eça, who would form his group "The Sagrada Familia" ", pianist Laércio de Freitas came in to replace him. The quartet would last until 1970 .
