DIPUC is a reversed spelling of the god of love, Cupid.
In place of a young male Cupid, I, an adult woman, am becoming the speaker of love in this 'reversed story,' symbolizing a shift. If Cacophony's previous album presented traumatic situations as they were, in this album, those situations are reversed. The girl who was once dominated and helpless by her circumstances now transforms into a woman who dominates the situation. I restore my personal history and position 'myself' as the subject of history.
In this reversed story, I become a different version of myself. I step into the shoes of the other party who was hurt under the guise of love. I didn't think someone could imagine or fantasize about a standpoint without experiencing it firsthand.
In mythology, Cupid in his youth is depicted as a naive boy who plays with love without knowing it. I, too, toy with people's hearts, just as I experienced it. Through these songs, I put into practice what I went through. I become someone in the fantastic world who treats love lightly, believing it makes me more attractive.
Cupid, who was portrayed as a child, grew into a young man after falling in love with Psyche. I, too, experience Eros by reversing trauma and truly grow. Through DIPUC, I am now ready to spread my wings and take flight. Despite the pain, I want to genuinely love without hesitation. It doesn't feel like a coincidence that the daughter of Cupid and Psyche, the goddess 'Hedone,' symbolizes joy and pleasure. I hope this album's story touches someone's wounds and gives them the strength to love and laugh wholeheartedly.
