売切 注文不可Camp Supafrico return with the sixth edition of their highly acclaimed ‘Sound of Funky Africa’ series. Digging even deeper into the Afro-funk vaults, side A features the über-rare 1984 Shina Williams and His African Percussionists ‘Agboju Logun’. Grooving along for a massive eleven and a half minutes, this super-heavy Nigerian disco cut splices raw sounding horns with choirs and chants. Seriously epic. Flip over for ‘Don’t Do It’ from Bongi Makeba, a mesmerising afro-funk workout with her powerful voice weaving in and out of the grooving bass and spaced-out sax. Last up is the sought-after ‘Mangous Ye’ from Black Soul. Originally the B-side of a 1976 release on tiny but top-quality NYC label Beam Junction, this Tom Moulton mixed slice of high-octane percussion-soaked afro-disco hit big on Italy’s Cosmic scene as well as the clubs of New York. Another surefire hit from the Supafrico imprint.試聴データA1. Shina Williams & His African Percussionists - Agboju Logun (11.30)B1. Bongi Makeba - Don’t Do ItB2. 売切 注文不可Number five in the series and no letting up the pressure for hot African funk label Supafrico. The fifth volume hits the ground running with the in-demand extended version of massive 1979 party anthem ‘Let me Love You’ from Sierra Leone’s disco/funk maestro Bunny Mack. Next up comes Jake Sollo’s wonderful dancefloor burner ‘African Gypsy’. Tucked away on his hard-to-find album ‘Show Me How’ also from ’79, this superb slice of Nigerian funk showcases the congo master’s percussion skills and great vocals as well as some wild psychedelic guitar action. Flip onto Side B for William Onyeabor’s conscious soul epic ‘Better Change Your Mind’. Weighing in at eight and a half minutes with a heavyweight churning bassline and some hefty guitarwork, this cannot fail to move you in all senses. And last but not least, the fantastic Roverman by Emma Dorgu from his 1979 super-rare album of the same name. An ultra-funky cut with some very cool Fender Rhodes, this sought-after groover is a great end to another essential Supafrico compilation.¥1,153 (税込)ご注文できません -

売切 注文不可Number four in the highly acclaimed Supafrico series, this Afro-funk treat will not disappoint. A decidedly upbeat compilation, it kicks off with the dope 1980 afro-style disco corker, ‘Musicland’ from NYC-based one-hit-wonders Clymax. An energetic boogie drum beat, soaring synths and an incessantly funky bassline makes this an A-class lesson in Afro-hedonism. Next up ‘I Feel Funky’ from Harry Mosco has you hooked from the first deeply groovy bass lick. Featuring a captivatingly heady synth solo, this track, taken from the 1978 ‘Country Boy (Mr. Funkees)’ LP, is a dancefloor must-have. Flip over for the flute driven afro-disco belter, Tirogo’s ‘Dancing Machine’. Joyous horns intersperse the chugging beats whilst the hot Afro vocals pay homage to the Jackson 5 classic of the same name. Finally, Bebe Manga’s ‘Lokognolo’ gives you layer upon layer of slick slap guitar, big-ass phat basslines and acid-tinged synths with Bebe smothering the whole lot in a creamy vocal topping. An absolute killer Afro EP that will burn up your record bag and the dancefloor alike.¥1,047 (税込)ご注文できません -

売切 注文不可Excellent third release on the essential ‘Supafrico Records’ featuring four absolutely stunning Afro flavoured grooves dug deep from the vaults. First up we have a previously unreleased extended version of ‘Hot Black ‘N’ Sweet’ by Nigerian funkster Kio Amachree. Taken from the über-rare 1981 ‘Ivory’ LP, this a slice of pure funk filled afro boogie led by a groovy phat bline, driving horn section and Kio’s magnificent Kid Creole-esque vocals. Number two comes in the form of ‘Slow Down’ from the hugely sought after 1981 ‘Grill’ album by Amas. But “Slow Down” it doesn’t! With a catchy, pulsating drum intro, layers of incredible stabbing piano and damn-right groovy guitar licks, by the time the vocals come in, you’re already in a state of Afro-euphoria! On the flip, we have the full 10 minute version of the ultra rare ‘Sabi (Get Down)’ from Ghanaian master drummer, Okyerema Asante feeding us a funk-riddled piece of undiluted afro groove pie with awesome vocals and tripped out synths Finally, if that wasn’t enough, Time Will Tell is a deeply undulating Afro funk disco gem from the 7-piece who were also known as the Lafayette Rock Band. Remastered to the max, this EP is an absolute necessity!¥1,047 (税込)ご注文できません -

売切 注文不可Second release on the wonderful ‘Supafrico Records’ digs up and dusts off four more mega-rare nuggets of superb Afro funk. First up is the excellent Afro Disco groove of Kabbala’s ‘Ashewo Ara’, a lost gem originally released back in ’82 on tiny UK independent Red Flame and now featuring highly on many collectors’ wants lists. Next is Buari’s ‘I’m Ready’, a chunk of pure dancefloor dynamite with a driving disco groove and great funky synths, taken from the Ghanian singer and percussionist’s awesome 1979 ‘Disco Soccer’ LP. On the flip we get the mega-rare and totally essential ‘Body & Soul’, a magnificent 10 minute mid-tempo Afro workout recorded in 1980 by Nigerian funkster William Onyeabor. Last up is a great extended edit of the Ashantis’ brilliant funky bubbler ‘Everybody’s Groove’ with its floor-filling groove and wicked vocals. These lovingly remastered rarities sound better than ever making this EP a must for anyone with a taste for those incredible funky Afro grooves¥996 (税込)ご注文できません -
