I’ve had it on my hard drive for around 10 years; I could not get it finished. I approached Tom Newman (Tubular Bells producer) and asked him to look at it. He did his usual magic on it, but I knew it was the vocal that would make it work. I had worked with Barry on a new version of Crime Of Passion, a hit he had with Mike Oldfield and I just knew Barry needed to sing this track of mine. He wrote the lyrics and we recorded his vocals. Now hearing Barry sing it, it has finally reached it potential.I love the fact that we were lucky enough to have Simon Phillips on drums, who along with Barry toured with Mike Oldfield in 1984 on the Discovery album tour, of which Barry sang vocals on.”BARRY PALMER“When I heard the track that Rob had recorded some time ago, I thought that it was a powerful and classy production straight away. I then had the opportunity to write the lyrics, which I was very thrilled to do. But it was not easy because it could potentially be about anything, so after listening to it many times, I tried to understand how it made me feel emotionally, without words. Was it sad? Or happy? Or something in between? I actually felt that it needed to be about losing someone but with a glimpse of optimism at the end, in order to give hope. As I worked through that concept, I kept singing the parts I had written to see if it had the right emotion but I felt it so strongly that I was sure that it would work. Hearing the finished track confirmed what my instincts had told me, and I feel very happy that the music and words of this song, fit together perfectly! Yes, I love it!After sending Rob my version of the song, I had a nervous wait, to see if he liked it. He no idea what to expect because I kept my writing process to myself. Plus, my vocal was just a demo for him to make a judgement on. I think it was a couple of days before I got the call where Rob said "yes, the words fit perfectly, now, come to the studio, so we can record it properly" I was quite relaxed about that because it's obviously not my first time. But in the studio, I was soon made aware of Robs search for the perfect recording; it was not easy, to be honest, but as I always thought of this song as "Rob’s baby" I knew that I had to do everything I could to make him happy. Don't get me wrong, he's great to work with in the studio but he knows that to get the best out of you, it might need you to go the extra mile and I must have done that because otherwise, we'd still be in that studio in Wales, trying "just one more time".The guy is a musical giant and I'm a very lucky boy!” 【簡易Papersleeve仕様】
