Moroccan Gnawa musician Majid Bekkas is perhaps best known to UK audiences for his albums alongside Joachim Kuhn on the ACT label, but his credentials are further enhanced through collaborative work with Peter Brotzmann, Archie Shepp, Klaus Doldinger and others. On Mabrouk however he steers a more rootsy course through traditional Gnawa repertoire and some original compositions, aided by the similarly cross-cultural Ablaye Cissoko on kora and Khalid Kouhen on percussion.
