By the time Angela Bofill began working on her fourth album, "Too Tough" in 1982, she had already established herself in the growing set of female vocalists whose music could best be described as a fusion of R&B, pop and jazz – think Randy Crawford, Phyllis Hyman, Jean Carne and Dee Dee Bridgewater. What distinguished her from some of her contemporaries was the degree of success: none of her peers had experienced the kind of sales that Angela had: her first two critically-acclaimed albums ("Angie" and "Angel Of The Night") for then-Arista Records-distributed GRP Records having landed in the Top 40. This is the first time "Too Tough" has been released on CD and contains her biggest hit single in the title track. Angela's next album propelled her further into mainstream acceptance, undoubtedly due to the creative supervision of Arista head Clive Davis so we are delighted to present both these albums here.
