Agbeko are 22-legged Afro-Rock-Funk outfit from Manchester, UK. Formed in 2015, they have quickly established themselves as a must-see act on the festival scene and at various headline shows across the UK and Europe, earning them a slot supporting Afrobeat giants Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 in November of this year. Their debut EP 'Unite' received airplay across a myriad of radio stations including BBC Radio, Worldwide FM and the New York Afrobeat Show.
'Outstanding.' - Jazzwise
'Manchester's finest - and most persuasive - advert for quixotic musical adventure' -Manchester Evening News
Leaders of the Free World/Submit represents Agbeko's first outing with Stutter & Twitch records and perfectly captures the band of 20-somethings' singular concoction of fiery lyrics, swaggering afro-funk grooves and razor-sharp horn lines. Nods to Fela Kuti, The Funkees and Eji Oyewole work in tandem with the band's healthy upbringing on Led Zeppelin and Parliament Funkadelic to generate a groovy, angry statement of intent fresh out of the north of England.
