世界中でこれまでに2億枚のアルバム・セールスを記録。フランスを代表する歌姫として50年のキャリアを誇るミレイユ・マチューの映画音楽コンピレーション・アルバム『Cin?ma』未発表音源も収録。
1946年生まれ。ミレイユ・マチュー(Mireille Mathieu)は日本でも人気の女性シャンソン歌手で、これまで世界中で売り上げたアルバムは約2億枚。1946年7月22日にアヴィニョンの貧しい家庭の長女として生まれ、19歳の時パリに上り、テレビののど自慢番組で「愛の讃歌」を歌って優勝。エディット・ピアフの再来と呼ばれ、翌年の1966年にポール・モーリア作曲の「愛の信条」でデビュー。おかっぱ頭の髪型がトレードマークで、1970年代には3度来日公演も行う。今回発売される2枚組アルバム『シネマ』は、映画音楽のテーマ曲全40曲を収録したコンペレーション・アルバム。「虹の彼方に」(オズの魔法使い)「恋の面影」(007カジノ・ロワイヤル)等のこれまで彼女が発表してきた有名曲に加え、「Un homme et une femme」(男と女)のフランシス・レイとのデュエット等、未発表曲及び初CD化音源も多数収録。
