This is incredible. It’s been 35 years since Brazilian composer/ arranger Verocai’s previous (and debut) album and his belated return presents us with a sound-world frozen in time, full of impossibly rich, soulful orchestrations that recall David Axelrod or Isaac Hayes given a Seventies Bossa spin. A nine-piece string section provides layered backgrounds to gentle Fender Rhodes pads, tootling flute, sensuous guitar and cooing vocals, with the 11 tunes alternating between spacey slow grooves and cinematic, Nouvelle Vague-ish landscapes. Guests include Ivan Lins and Azymuth, but the signature is clearly Verocai’s own. Phil Johnson “Independent On Sunday”

“VERY excited that this is finally coming on vinyl, it’s been a long time coming.” Simon Harrison (Basic Soul)
