フェアポート・コンヴェンションやマシューズ・サザン・コンフォート、プレインソング、そしてソロと様々な活動で名作を残してきた英国シンガー・ソングライター、イアン・マシューズ。1967年から1969年までフォークロックバンド、フェアポート・コンベンションのオリジナルメンバーとして活動した後、自身のバンド、マシューズ・サザン・コンフォートを結成し、ジョニ・ミッチェルの「ウッドストック」のカバー曲で英国チャート1位を獲得。1970年代には、Vertigo、Elektra、Columbia、Rockburghの各レーベルでソロアルバムを録音したほか、ギタリスト兼シンガーのアンディ・ロバーツとともに、プレインソングの創設メンバーとしても活躍しました。

本ボックスは75年作『Go For Broke』と76年作『Hit And Run』を残した77-77年のコロンビア在籍時の音源をまとめたアンソロジー。アルバム2枚はもちろんスタジオ盤に収録されなかった6曲のライヴ、コロラド州デンバーのエベッツ・フィールドでのライヴ・パフォーマンス2公演、イアンのアーカイブから発掘された豊富な未発表音源、今回新たに編集されたライヴ音源集『Columbia Years Live (1979-2022』といった貴重な音源を多数収録しています。レイドバック風味やAOR的なサウンドを聴かせたこの時代を総括するような決定的内容となっています。
