SUZANNE VEGA / スザンヌ・ヴェガ
カリフォルニア州サンタモニカ出身の女性シンガーソングライター。1 1 9 8 5年、アルバム『Suzanne Vega』でデビュー。全英11位を記録する。1987年にはセカンド・アルバム『Solitude Standing』をリリース。児童虐待をテーマにした「Luka」や日本でもCMに使用され話題となった「Tom's Diner」を収録した同作は、全英2位/全米11位と大ヒットを記録。その人気を確固たるものとする。その後も『Days Of Open Hand』(1990年)、『99.9F°』(1992年)、『Nine Objects Of Desire』(1996年)、『Songs In Red And Gray』(2001年)とリリースを続け、80年代後半から90年代の女性シンガーソングライター・ブームの先駆けとなった。2007年には7枚目のアルバム『Beauty & Crime』でグラミー賞のBestEngineered Album, Non-Classicalを受賞。2014年には8枚目のアルバム『TalesFrom The Realm Of The Queen Of Pentacles』、2016年には女流作家、CarsonMcCullersを題材としたアルバム『Lover, Beloved: Songs From An Evening WithCarson McCullers』をリリースした。
