売切 注文不可御大マリオ・バウサと、彼が率いたアフロ・キューバンジャズ・オーケストラ による1993年作“After the highly successful CD “TANGA” (Timba 59789TR) “My Time IsNow” was the second production with the legendary inventor of Latin Jazz.Mario Bauz was born in Havana, Cuba, in 1911 and initially learned theclarinet. In 1926 he went to New York to record some Cuban “danzones”.However, his artistic career changed direction radically when he turned hisattention to jazz.Subsequently he performed with the big band of drummer Chick Webb, oneof the hottest musicians from the swing era, and within a year he had becomeist musical director. While he was still working with Webb he introduced himto a young female singer who had just won an award at an amateur contest inHarlem: Ella Fitzgerald. That was Ella’s first break. Bauza stayed with Webbuntil 1938 and then played with Don Reedman and Fletcher Henderson beforejoining Cab Calloway’s Band in 1939.
