アメリカ・プログレッシヴ・ロック界のレジェンド・バンド、カンサスが、2023年に結成50周年を迎える。この金字塔となる機会を記念し、『Another Fork In The Road - 50 Years Of Kansas』を発売する。


キャリア全体を網羅するこのアルバム(CD3枚組)には、バンドの膨大なディスコグラフィから 丹念に選ばれた全41曲を収録。さらに、デビュー・アルバム『カンサス・ファースト・アルバム』の1曲目に収録されている「キャン・アイ・テル・ユー」の新しいヴァージョンも収録される。1974年のデビュー・アルバム向けにレコーディングされ収録に至ったこの曲が現在のバンドメンバーによりアップデートされ、16作のスタジオ・アルバムと全世界で3000万枚以上を売り上げたこのバンドの今もなお続く長い歴史が一巡したという観点を与えてくれる。


オリジナル・メンバーのフィル・イハートはこのアルバムについて「ただのありふれたグレイテスト・ヒッツ・アルバムをはるかに超えた『アナザー・フォーク・イン・ザ・ロード』は、今も続くカンサスの進化と紆余曲折の50年間の歩みを詳細まで描写しているんだ。」と語っている。

【プロフィール】
●1969年に米国カンザス州で結成。1974年にメジャー・デビュー。
●1976年に発表した『永遠の序曲』が400万枚以上を売る大ヒットを記録、「伝承」のシングル・ヒットも生まれた。
●1977年発表の『暗黒への曳航』(全米4位)も大ヒット。 シングル・カットされた「すべては風の中に」(全米6位)が大ヒットし、バンドとして確固たる地位を築く。
●1983年に解散するも、86年に再結成。以後もメンバー・チェンジをくり返しながら もコンスタントに活動。レコードセールスは全世界で3000万枚以上。
●2016年には16年振りの新作『暗黙の序曲』 (USチャート14位)を、2020年に は最新作『ジ・アブセンス・オブ・プレゼンス』(USチャート10位)をリリース。
●今もなお全世界のアリーナ、スタジアムでのライヴ活動も展開。
