アルトゥール・ヴェロカイが2007年にリリースした名作『アンコール』のアナログ盤が待望のアンコール・プレス! 名曲 "BIS" を収録した2000年以降におけるブラジル音楽最高傑作。

1972年にリリースされたセイム・タイトルのLP『アルトゥール・ヴェロカイ』のオリジナル盤レコードが3000ドルを超える価格で落札されるなど、いまやブラジル音楽ファンのみならず、サイケ、ジャズ、ヒップホップといったジャンルを巻き込みもっとも愛されているギタリスト/作編曲家/コンダクター、アルトゥール・ヴェロカイ。そんなヴェロカイの本格的なカムバック作として当時大ヒットを記録したのが本作『アンコール』である。稀代の作編曲家であるヴェロカイの、流麗でありながら一筋縄ではいかないアレンジ、アジムスやイヴァン・リンスといった伝説的ミュージシャンたちが奏でる心地のよいグルーヴは、今聴いても実に新鮮で、まさに名盤と呼ぶべき内容だ。数年前にはじめてアナログ・プレスされたものの、即完売。いまや入手困難となっているだけに今回のアンコール・プレスは実に嬉しい限り!

This is incredible. It’s been 35 years since Brazilian composer/ arranger Verocai’s previous (and debut) album and his belated return presents us with a sound-world frozen in time, full of impossibly rich, soulful orchestrations that recall David Axelrod or Isaac Hayes given a Seventies Bossa spin. A nine-piece string section provides layered backgrounds to gentle Fender Rhodes pads, tootling flute, sensuous guitar and cooing vocals, with the 11 tunes alternating between spacey slow grooves and cinematic, Nouvelle Vague-ish landscapes.
