1984年オリジナル、デザート・ブルースを代表するアリ・ファルカ・トゥーレの大名作が待望の初アナログ復刻!1982年にパーカッショニストのハマ・サンカレとチームを組んだトゥーレ。二人はトゥーレの故郷であるニアフンケから、マリ北部を旅し、新しい曲のコレクションを次第に洗練させていった。録音の準備ができると彼らはニジェール川をたどり、砂漠を通って首都バマコに到達。そうやって録音されたのが本作である。2つの声が非常に近く、トゥーレが参考にしていたというブルガリアの独特な音響モデルに影響を受けた一つのギターと、カラバッシュ・パーカッションによる録音。録音はライナーノーツなしでセルフタイトル・アルバムとして1984年にリリースされ、オリジナルのスリーブの色から「レッド」アルバムとして知られるようになったのだとか。
