フィリピンの8人組の音大卒のプロフェッショナル・ジャズ・グループによる2作目(2004)。Latin、Bossa、Afroなどもとりこみつつ、Frank Zappa的なマルチ性やアヴァンジャズスタイル、Black Sabbath的なヘヴィメタル、王道のRockスタイルなどを大胆にクロスオーバー?いや、狂気的にチャンプルー?した快作&怪作がアナログ化。20周年を祝いアナログ化した本作は、酒・薬物について歌う彼らにふさわしいサイケデリックながらジャンキーなテイストで◎60 年代から 70 年代のファンクのいかしたグルーヴ&ブレイク、そこにフィリピン出身のメンバーによるジャンキーでどこか泥臭いサウンドが組み合わさっており非常に好物だ。そういったセンスに加え、音大卒という優秀さが垣間見れるのが、パンク、メタル、ジャズ、フュージョン、アフロキューバン、などの幅広いテイストを危なげなくハイブリッドしている点だ、これは素晴らしいです。当時、政治や、酒、薬物中毒について話し言葉で歌うスタイルで熱狂的なファンを獲得、極度のアル中のため10数年の時間でリリースしたアルバムは4作と比較的少なめだそうだ。今回入荷分はデットストックのためお早めに。アジア都市音楽ディスクガイド掲載楽曲はこちらRadioactive Sago Project and how to describe their sound:Take the tightest grooves and the and the sickest breaks of '60s-70s funk, add dollops of grime from Manila's sleaziest sidewalks, throw in a brass section that weaves and stabs like a drunken marching band waiting to be ambushed anytime by blasts of punk, metal, jazz, afro-cuban, and free atonal skronk. Consider: a classically-trained octet from the country's premiere state university, but with their unusual musical tastes and even more desperate predilection for alcohol resulted in a mere four full-length albums in 14 years of existence.
