Dave Brock(vo/g/key)を中心に現在も第一線で活躍する“最後のPsychedelic Space Rock”バンド、バンドの代表作にしてライブ作品の傑作としても知られる、英United Artistsから発表された'73年ライブ盤『SPACE RITUAL』が発売50周年を記念して、新規リミックス音源や同時期のライブ音源などを収録した10CD+Blu-rayの豪華11枚組限定ボックス仕様にて'23年再発!


'72年作『DOREMI FASOL RATIDO』発表後にRobert Calvert(vo)を迎えた編成で行われた同年英国ツアーより12月Liverpool Stadium/Brixton Sundown公演のライブ音源から選曲/編纂されたバンド初のライブ盤。Disc1/2には'73年ライブ盤の、Ben Wisemanによるオリジナル・マスターテープからの新規リマスタリング音源を使用したオリジナル・ステレオ・ミックス音源、Disc3~8には'73年ライブ盤の素材として使用された'72年12月22日のLiverpool Stadium公演・12月30日のBrixton Sundown公演、並びに同ツアーの12月23日Locarno Sunderland公演の、Anthony Phillips/Rupert Hineなどの作品を手掛けたエンジニアであるStephen W. Taylerによって本ボックス用にリミックスされたコンプリート・ライブ音源、Disc9/10には同時発売の2CD再発盤と同じく、'73年ライブ盤のオリジナルのマスターテープを使用したStephen W. Taylerによる新規リミックス音源、Disc11のBlu-rayには前記した'73年ライブ盤の新規リミックス音源の2ch 96kHz/24Bit Stereo & High Resolution 5.1ch 96kHz/24Bit Surround Mix音源を収録。新規リミックス音源にはボーナスとして'07年再発盤と同じくアンコールの'You Shouldn’t Do That'を追加収録、'Brainstorm''は'07年再発盤にも収録されたコンプリート・バージョン、'Time We Left This World Today'は11分弱の拡張バージョンを収録。


スペイシーなエフェクトとアジテーションが宙を舞う'Earth Calling'から一気になだれ込む'Born to Go'への展開を筆頭に、ダンサー/ライトショーも取り入れた視覚的な要素も交えて全編ドラッグ/サイケ塗れの轟音で名曲の数々が披露される狂乱の演奏/ライブの模様を惜しみなく収録。慣れ親しんだオリジナル・ミックス音源はもとより、度重なるコンサートで積み上げられていった当時のバンドの勢いをダイレクトに伝えるライブ音源、より空間的/立体的な音像となったリミックス音源、いずれもファン必聴の内容!まさに当時のHAWKWINDにおける斜め上を行くリチュアリスティックな精神とパンキッシュな推進力に溢れる演奏が集約された決定版ボックスです!
